WAUSEON CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Huner Makes Proclamation For EMS Week

The Wauseon City Council held their meeting on Monday, May 16th at 5:00 p.m. The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance followed up with a moment of silence. With Councilor Tijerina absent, council moved to approve the minutes from the previous meeting.

The annual meeting with Clinton Township took place next with Mayor Huner calling the meeting to order.

Present were Trustee Hite, Frey, and Neuenschwander, and Council Members Chamberlin, Heising, Schneider, Stickley, and Council President Stiriz.

A motion was then made to reappoint Councilor Chamberlin to the Wauseon Union Cemetery for the three-year term of January 2, 2023, to January 1, 2026. With a vote of eight to zero in favor, the motion passed. The joint meeting was then adjourned.

Mayor Huner then read a proclamation for Emergency Medical Services. The proclamation declares the week of May 16th through the 22nd as EMS week.

EMS Week is a time to thank paramedics, EMTs and the entire EMS workforce for their service and sacrifices. It is also an opportunity for EMS to continue to raise public awareness about the critical role of EMS in the community.

Mayor Huner then stated that Wauseon was named a 2021 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation due to the City’s commitment to honor effective urban forest management.

Present from the Tree Commission were Rick Frey, Laura Kamp, Kurt Stuckey and Scott Stiriz. Mayor Huner thanked them for all they do for the community. Council then moved to approve the following matters of legislation.

The First Reading of Resolution 2022-13 authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with the Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association Command Officers Union and declaring an emergency.

The Second Reading of Resolution 2022-10 authorizing the mayor to enter into agreements for engineering services.

The Third Reading of Resolution 2022-06 authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with FellerFinch & Associates, Inc. for engineering services.

The Third Reading of Resolution 2022-07 authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with Peterman Associates, Inc. for engineering services.

The Third Reading of Resolution 2022-08 authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with DGL Consulting Engineers, LLC. for engineering services.

The Third Reading of Resolution 2022-09 authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with Poggemeyer Design Group. for engineering services.

Council then moved on to discuss new business. A motion was made and passed to accept the mayor’s appointments for the various boards and commissions. Appointments made are as follows.

Brook Conrad to the Park board for a five-year term. Adam Chambers to the Community Reinvestment Area Housing Council for a three-year term.

Lastly, council moved to approve the bills for payment as presented. The meeting was then adjourned for the evening.
