The Delta Village Council held their meeting on Monday, May 1st. The meeting began at 5:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer.
A request was first made to amend the dates for meeting minutes listed on the agenda.
Approval of meeting minutes took place next before beginning a public hearing for the Ag District Renewal for Nova Steel & Tube. Following the hearing, the members of the public were invited to speak to council.
Jody Curtis spoke first and stated that, due to issues with a lift station, they have had sewage back up into their home.
She asked that the village take another look into their policy of not paying for clean up when sewage backs up into a residents home.
She went on to list known issues with the pump as well as the fact that she was informed that parts were on order.
Village Administrator Brad Peebles then went on to state that he is fully aware of the situation and that parts have indeed been ordered.
He also stated that Curtis was correct with what she stated was wrong with the pump, and through conversations with the insurance company, compensation will be given to her for the clean-up.
Ted Hartman spoke next and stated that his home was the first victim from issues with the pump.
He asked what the village would do for him, seeing as how the Curtis residence was able to get compensation.
Mr. Peebles stated that he should contact him and give him his expenses to forward on to the insurance company.
Jen Griewahn from the Delta Public Library then spoke to council and requested fees be waived for the pavilion that was rented for a public event to be held on June 13th. Council moved to approve the request.
With no correspondence received, Peebles gave an addition to his written report. He informed council that it was the last day applications for the sidewalk repair program could be turned in. Fewer applications were turned in than expected and so there is more money available.
The current plan is to identify areas around town that have sidewalk issues and inform the homeowners of the sidewalk program.
The finance director then asked for council to approve the invoices before the Delta Fire Chief spoke in order to introduce himself to council.
Peebles next asked council to set up a village services meeting, which will be set at a later time.
The following legislative actions were then approved. The second reading of Ordinance 23-01 implementing sections 3725.65 through 3735.70 of the Ohio Revised Code, establishing and describing the boundaries of Community Reinvestment area within the Village of Delta, designating a housing officer to administer the program, and creating a community reinvestment housing council and a tax incentive review council.
The second reading of Ordinance 23-02 accepting petitioned property for annexation filed with the Village of Delta and establishing the zoning classification for the same.
The first reading of Resolution 23-10 declaring it necessary to levy a tax in excess of the ten-mil limitation for recreational purposes.
It was stated that this is a replacement for an existing levy that will generate an additional $10,000 in revenue.
The first reading of Resolution 23-11 authorizing the village administrator to execute water supply agreement with the Fulton County Commissioners.
The first reading of Resolution 23-12 authorizing the village administrator to negotiate and execute easement for electric utility line construction on village owned property.
With no further business to attend to, council moved to enter into executive session at 5:58 p.m.
Following executive session, council moved to adjourn for the evening.
