THE VILLAGE REPORTER

STRYKER – On Monday afternoon Stryker’s Public Library hosted a celebration for Stryker’s elementary students in honor of the popular storyteller, Theodor Seuss Geisel. Best known by his pen name Dr. Seuss, Geisel would have celebrated his 111th birthday on Monday.

Students from preschool through 3rd grade joined in the festivities consisting of readings of his most popular works including One Fish, Two Fish, Green Eggs and Ham, and The Cat In the Hat. Kids got to experience different stories and games as they rotated between three stations.

At the Green Eggs and Ham corner, the story was followed up with thought-provoking questions related to the story; upon answering correctly, students would choose to place either a Green Egg or Ham card in a tic-tac-toe like formation. At the front of the Library, The Cat In The Hat reading lead to a musical chairs inspired spinoff, musical hats. The final station consisted of selecting a favorite character from one of Seuss’s works and enjoying a tasty snack.

Stryker Public Library’s next event will be Lego Club on Monday, March 16th from 3:15-4pm. The library encourages bringing creative ideas rather than legos as there are plenty for everyone!
