THE VILLAGE REPORTER

Edgerton welcomed Gary Hunter from the U.S. Route 6 Tourist Association at the library and village council meeting to share the rich history of Route 6, “the longest, oldest, and highest transcontinental highway in America.”

By spreading the history of Historic Route 6, Hunter and his team hope to bring business and tourism to current Route 6, also sharing the many attractive sight-seeing and historic sites that can be found along this route today.

The 3,652-mile expanse touches both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, as well as reaches the highest altitude seen by highways in Loveland Pass, Colorado, at 11,990 feet above sea level.

There are wonderful businesses in towns all across America that Route 6 awareness will bring business to, and Edgerton is one of them.

Many communities hold different meanings to Route 6 specific to local utilization, but that only brings more uniqueness to the depth of history along each stop that Historic Route 6 has to offer.
