The Williams County Commissioners began their July 20, 2023 general session at 10 a.m.

Commissioners Lew Hilkert, Terry Rummel, and Bart Westfall passed six resolutions during this session, and also approved the August Sheriff’s Office credit card appropriations, July 3 to 9 Dog Warden report, a letter from the EMS Chief regarding key fobs for medicine storage, and two letters regarding lease agreement inquiries.

Resolution 221 approved transfers for the Department of Common Pleas, the Department of Aging, EMS, Hillside Country Living, and the Sheriff’s Office. Resolution 222 was for an annual airport liability insurance re-quote.

Resolution 223 and 224 approved two transfers of funds for JFS for April and June operation costs and reimbursement of June RFS activity.

Resolution 225 approved an OPWC grant agreement for $275,000 towards the CR 2 Project.

Lastly, Resolution 226 approved the waiving of insurance coverage tenure rules for a new employee.

Then, the minutes of the July 17, 2023 session were approved as presented, as were the bills as presented by the county auditor.

Commissioner Rummel then brought up whether the lease with the OSU Extension Office needed more research, and Commissioner Hilkert said more research was being done but the lease renewal inquiry letter was being sent in the interim.

Commissioner Hilkert related that April 19-21 is looking to be the rescheduled celebratory dates for the bicentennial celebration for the establishment of Williams County, and Commissioner Hilkert was wondering if their office might be interested in helping to fund this celebration.

The anniversary celebration was originally planned for 2020, but the pandemic put a stop to that.

This reminds Williams County residents to anticipate the celebrations of next year, when the 200-year anniversary of Williams County being organized by the general assembly occurs.

The Williams County Commissioners then entered executive session at 10:17 a.m. to discuss discipline of a public employee before adjourning for the day.
