The Edon School Board meeting, held on July 20, began with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by roll call. All five board members, Cody Best, Jamie Schaffter, Patty Eicher, Ashley Reed, and David Wehrle were in attendance.

In the first order of business, the school board approved the meeting minutes from the previous June 26 meeting.

The board then approved the following six items of the consent agenda: the financial reports for June 2023; the amended certificate request from the county auditor; the certificate of the total amount from all sources available for expenditures for fiscal year 2024 and the 412 certificate; donations; the June NWOESC Paraprofessional and teacher substititute listsa and the list of credentiales evaluators for the 2022-23 school year.

Treasurer Deb Nester then gave the treasurer’s report. Nester reported that the revenues were over expenditures by $336,589 and the day’s cash is 172.09 days.

Superintendent Anthony Stevens then gave the superintendent’s report. First, Stevens reported that he has received three responses for qualifications to advertise for the architectural/engineering services.

Stevens said that the track has been sprayed, the surface has been painted and the rubber surface has been patched. Nester said that she has not yet been told of the price for the project.

Next, Stevens stated that the refinishing of the gym floor took place on July 7, but some unevenness has been found in the finish. The company doing the project will be back on July 21, to ensure that the project is properly finished.

Stevens then said that the biennium budget has been approved by the governor.

Next, the weight room doors have been installed and the administration is continuing to update the security features around that facility.

Stevens then stated that Pulver Asphalt has sprayed the old bus barn parking lot, in order to address the impact that their equipment has had on the surface, while they are finishing construction.

Next, Stevens said that the NWOESC notified Edon Schools that Matt Shumaker has been assigned as the school psychologist and Stacy Elchinger is the special education supervisor, for the 2023-24 school year.

The board then approved the list of substitute bus /van drivers for the 2023-24 school year and the one-year contract for Stan Bryner, bus driver, for the 2023-24 school year.

That was followed by the board approving the student fees for the 2023-24 school year and approving the 2023-24 athletic pass resolution.

Next, the board approved the supplemental contracts for the 2023-24 school year and then approved the contract agreement with Visions Photography for the 2023-24 school year.

The board then approved the job description for the Gifted Coordinator Supplement position. Next, the board moved into executive session.
