Williams County honored those who sacrificed it all for our country once again on August 23, 2023.

After four years of ideation, the act of dedicating State Route 107 to the veterans of Williams County was made a reality, with the stretch of 107 in Montpelier being officially named “Williams County Veterans Memorial Highway.”

This dedication is extra special because of State Route 107’s location, which feeds into State Route 20, which is dedicated as “Ohio Medal of Honor Highway.”

DEDICATION … The Veterans of Williams County, and those that love and support them, are honored with the dedication of State Route 107 in Montpelier to “Williams County Veterans Memorial Highway.”

Residents, government officials, and local veterans gathered to witness the dedication, which Ohio Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur noted as “something special,” that will help generations of Ohioans to come to know their “history and celebrate it.”

Ohio Representative Jim Hoops spoke on the dedication of the local residents with regards to honoring their veterans, and everyone congratulated Williams County Veterans Services Executive Director Dan Bonney and veteran Bob Walkup for their integral parts in making this dedication happen.
