Montpelier Takes Quad Meet Against Pettisville, North Central, and Hilltop

(April 2nd, 2015) – MONTPELIER: Hosting Buckeye Border Conference neighbors Hilltop, Pettisville, and North Central, the Lady Locos won a hard fought quad meet on April 2.

Sprinting events were kind to Montpelier. While Alaina Kemarly of North Central took first in the 100 meter dash thanks to her time of 13.48, Montpelier’s McKenna Quaderer and Hannah Blake took second and third with times of 13.88 and 14.49, respectively. Quaderer claimed victory in the 200 meter dash at 28.29, with Blake taking third with a time of 29.81. Sandwiched between them was Pettisville’s Kyra Behnfeldt with a time of 29.54.

Quaderer also took first in the 400 meter dash, running a time of 1:08.30. Kara Brown of Hilltop and Sarah Beck of Pettisville followed suit, with times of 1:12.39 and 1:14.73, respectively.

Distance was a mixed bag between Pettisville, Hilltop, and Montpelier. The Blackbirds dominated the 800 meter run, with Alexa Leppelmeier and Mikala Avina taking first and second with 2:41.30 and 2:43.53. Jacqueline Carlson earned a third place finish for Montpelier, running a 2:45.36. The mile run was also taken by Leppelmeier, who ran a 5:46.54. Lady Cadet Madeline Routhier was close behind with a time of 5:56.45. Carlson claimed third place at 6:04.25.


Routhier won first place in the two mile run, thanks to her time of 13:23.44. Her teammate, Landrey Brown was second at 13:56.32. Emma Zenz of North Central took home third place with a time of 13:58.14.

Lady Eagle Brooke Schofield won the high jump competition, with a height of 4’8”. Routhier came in second place with a 4’6” jump. Morgan Erikson cleard 4’2” to give the Locos a third place finish. Kemarly earned a win for North Central in the long jump, clearing a 14’3” span. Kara Brown took home second place for Hilltop with a 12’7” jump. Another North Central girl, Keeley Shaw, was awarded third place with a jump of 11’10”.

Baylee Hageman dominated the shot put, tossing the heavy ball an impressive 37’9”. Lady Blackbird Katie Hauter was the next best thrower in the event, clearing 27’4” on her toss. Blake gave the Locomotives third place thanks to her 26’8” throw.


Overall, Montpelier edged out Pettisville as they scored 70.5 points against the Blackbirds 65.5. North Central scored 43 points, while Hilltop put up 36 points.
