Martin VanAusdale (1944 -2023)

Martin P. VanAusdale, age 79, of Nettle Lake, Ohio, died at 4:45 P.M. on Saturday, September 30, 2023, in his home, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness.

Mr. VanAusdale was a graduate of Maumee High School and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict.

He began his work career working for a body shop in Toledo, Ohio, and then was employed as a truck driver working for several companies, including Bryan Truck Lines.


He enjoyed wintering in Texas and playing euchre and was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Martin P. VanAusdale was born on August 27, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Rolland and Jewell (Lintner) VanAusdale.

He married April (Beaty) Burkhard on August 28, 1986, at Nettle Lake, and she preceded him in death on February 12, 2015.


Survivors include five children, Larry (Kelly) Burkhard, of Montpelier, Ohio, John (Leslie) VanAusdale, of Edgerton, Ohio, David VanAusdale, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Cindi (Jim) Acocks, of Marquette, Michigan, and Hank VanAusdale, of Monclova, Ohio; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Sister Maria Coretti (Barbara) VanAusdale, of Toledo; one brother, Steve (Mary Lou) VanAusdale, of Napoleon, Ohio; his companion, Linda Cockeram, of Springfield, Ohio; and his nephews and nieces.

Private family service will be held at a later date.
