(April 21st, 2015) – PETTISVILLE: The Lady Bombers crossed the county line to meet up with Buckeye Border Conference foe Pettisville in league play. An offensive renaissance experienced by the Edon girls in the late stages of the contest allowed the visitors to pull away and secure a win in enemy territory.

Edon took down the Blackbirds of Fulton County, 18-5.

The Bombers got off to a great start, racking up 3 runs in the top of the first inning. Pettisville was quick with their rebuttal, answering with 4 runs of their own before the beginning of the second. Over the course of the next two innings, the Lady Blackbirds held on to that single run advantage.

It was in the fourth inning that the Lady Bombers began to crack the game open. Adding another 3 runs to their total, they assumed a 6-4 lead. The hometown girls of Pettisville put up a 1 run effort in the bottom of the inning, but remained behind. It would be the last run the Edon defense allowed in the contest. In the batter’s box, the Bomber girls tacked on another 2 runs in both the fifth and sixth innings, before erupting for 8 runs in the seventh.

Kaitlin Chrisman took the mound for the visitors from Edon, lasting all seven innings to take home the victory. Her performance in the match-up was impressive, as none of the Lady Blackbird’s 5 runs were earned. The Bomber senior struck out 4 batters, refusing to give up a walk.

Pettisville’s Teagan Kauffman also pitched a complete game, which led to her accepting the loss. The sophomore allowed 11 earned runs off of 14 hits. She struck out 4 batters as well.

Chrisman did her damage from the plate as well as the mound. Going 3 for 4 on the day, she hit for 2 singles and a triple, earning 3 RBIs. Fellow senior Alex Kiess was successful on 3 of her 5 plate appearances, knocking in 2 RBIs with 2 singles and a double.

Mallory Riegsecker led the Lady Blackbird bats with a 2 for 4 showing at the plate. She hit for a single and a double, driving in 2 RBIs. Stephanie Hubby went 3 for 4 in the batter’s box, bringing home an RBI while hitting 3 singles.
