(April 23rd, 2015) – MONTPELIER: With the Lady Locos taking on North Western Ohio Athletic League power Archbold, the Montpelier girls knew their work would be cut out for them. Despite hosting the Lady Blue Streaks, it seemed as though Archbold came into the game with a distinct advantage.

The visitors from Fulton County played like it as well, besting the Locomotives 10-2.

Archbold was first to get on the board with a run in the top of the second inning. Montpelier was unable to answer, opening the door for the Blue Streaks to expand upon their lead. They did just that, thanks to a 5 run effort in the third. The Loco girls were able to score 2 runs of their own, but still faced a 6-2 deficit. With 4 more runs in the top half of the fourth, Archbold expanded their lead to 8 runs, an advantage Montpelier couldn’t overcome.

Breanna Stein handled things from the mound for the Lady Locomotives, pitching for all seven innings in the contest. The senior girl allowed 12 hits from the Archbold batters, walking 2 of them as well. She also had 2 strikeouts.

Landry McKelvey and Sidney Houk each earned a single for their Montpelier team. Haley Suffel hit for a double in the game as well.

The loss drops Montpelier’s record to 8-4 overall, as they carry a 3-2 mark in league play.
