DISTRICT SOIL JUDGING … On Tuesday, September 27, the Evergreen FFA had 16 members compete at the District 1 Soil Judging Contest. There were eight members in the rural contest and eight in the urban contest. At this FFA contest, members are to determine the different soil properties such as soil texture, landform, and soil drainage. The rural team consisted of: Andrew Bettinger, Nate Emmons, Joey Okos, Nick Rosinski, Braden Studenka, Brody Studenka, Jack Stubleski, and Kate Wyse. The urban team consisted of: Marlee Brubaker, Sydney Bull, Avery Emmitt, Jackson Huffman, Lanae Manz, Alex Mossing, Alex Paulson, and Riley Studenka. The rural team placed sixth in the competition while the urban team placed third. The urban team moved onto state competition in mid-October, where they placed 29th as a team.
