Evergreen Local School District held their Board of Education meeting on Monday, October 16th. The meeting began at 6:01 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance and approval of the agenda as well as the minutes from the previous meeting held on September 18th.

The board then approved the September 2023 financial reports including the Cash Reconciliation, Financial Summary, Cash Summary, and Disbursement Summary.

Next, the board added Jamie Rulka (Custodian) to the approved district substitution list pending the completion of any/all licensure requirements and background check as well as approval of several supplemental contracts and volunteers for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board accepted four resignations from the following people: Paula Chrislieb (Cook), Jessica Root (Intervention Specialist), Nick Hassen (Assistant Football Coach), and the retirement of Teressa Burgess (bus driver).

Superintendent Eric Smola recommended to pass the following preceding personnel items: the House Bill 33 Policy Resolution, NEOLA Policy update, a calendar change, a Memorandum of Understanding with the Evergreen Education Association and the Ohio Association of Public Schools Employees to allow for additional insurance plan options for the 2024 calendar year, an amended contract with Toledo Pediatric Speech Therapy LLC, indoor track and field participation, and girls wrestling as an Evergreen Club Sport, which was all approved by the board.

Then, the board discussed the Solar Eclipse that is taking place on April 8, 2024, as well as substitute bus driver rates.

The board then heard administrative reports from each principal, the athletic director, and the superintendent before moving to adjourn the meeting at 6:34 p.m.

The next regular board meeting will be held on November 20, 2023, at 6:00 p.m.
