(April 21st, 2015) – PIONEER: The Lady Panthers of Stryker claimed victory in a quad-meet hosted by North Central, which also included fellow guests Edon and Fayette. Stryker scored 93 points in the win, with Edon finishing second at 76.5 points. North Central took third place with 51.5 points, while Fayette rounded out the teams with 11 points.

The 100 meter dash was a vital source of points for the Panther girls, with Paige Speelman and Brittany Breier taking first and third places with times of 12.9 and 13.7 respectively. Alaina Kemarly squeezed between the two with a 13.1 claiming second place. Katie Ewers, an Edon freshman, earned fourth place at 14.3, and North Central’s own freshman, Jenna Keesecker finished fifth at 14.6.

The two mile run was one of three distance events dominated by Edon. The sister duo of Karissa and Kaitlyn Sonneberger alternated victories in each of the three events. It was Karissa’s turn to win in the two mile, with Kaitlyn taking second. Emma Zenz, of North Central finished in third place, while Stryker runner Megan Graber earned fourth place. Liz Maginn, a senior for Fayette, rounded out the top five.

In the 400 meter dash, Audra Rupp gave Stryker another victory, completing the race in 1:08.7. Zenz finished in second for North Central at 1:10.1, as teammate Brooke Schofield ran a 1:13.4 to claim third place. Edon’s Sarah Lemmon earned fourth place with a 1:13.7.

Stryker had a particularly strong showing in the 110 high hurdles, with Edon performing respectably as well. Gabrielle Paxton, a senior for Stryker, took first place with an 18.1, while teammate Kira Petit gave her a good run at 18.4. Ewers earned third place at 20.3, while fellow Bomber Paige Schaffter ran a 21 flat for fourth place.

Michaela Bates gave Fayette a first place finish in the discus, throwing for 108′. Autumn Joice, of Edon, tossed the disc 74’10” for second, while Kaitlyn Sonneberger finished with a throw of 69’2”. Heather McConnaughey had a throw of 60’3” earn her fourth place. Stryker’s Pettit threw for 53’3” to earn fifth place.

Stryker had the depth and talent to earn the team victory, but Edon and North Central displayed the ability to keep pace with them, likely hurting each others chances of winning by stealing places from one another. Fayette, with just two girls on the roster, had an impressive showing just to earn 11 points.
