Montpelier saw a busy day this Saturday, as November 18th saw the occurrence of the annual Olde Tyme Holiday Gathering.

This is the 17th year that Montpelier has been happy to provide “a day of holiday-themed activities,” which started at 10 a.m. this year.

There was a huge craft show throughout the school, with loads of vendors throughout every hall, with smiling faces sharing the joy of gathering together.

Most of the crafts were tailored around the holidays, but there were a lot of useful everyday things being sold as well.

The public library in town held a children’s craft show, which helped keep the kids busy between the book fair at the school and the Polar Express experience offered at the House of Prayer, Empire Street mini mall, holiday parade, and, of course, the chance to see Santa.

The fire station was serving up chili for free-will donations, and Trackside Modelers had an open house until 7 p.m.  Letters to Santa were also being sent out at the library and after the parade.

The parade was a sight to behold, as everyone embraced the holiday spirit with bright lights and warm smiles.

Smiles and laughter were the only things that were warm, however, as everyone watched their breath disappear into the night air. Santa came down, pulled in a horse drawn carriage, marking the start of the parade.

Other festive horses followed, decked out in lights and glitter, which truly looked amazing underneath the streetlights. The floats didn’t disappoint, and many made sure to go all out with themes like Snoopy, the Grinch and the Polar Express.

Everyone loved the experience, and the kids loved having another chance to get some candy.

With so much going on, it isn’t hard to see why Montpelier, Ohio was the talk of the tri-state area last Saturday night with another successful Olde Tyme Holiday Gathering.

HOLIDAY CRAFTS … The school was filled with vendors selling crafts, with many endearing holiday decorations on display. Everyone had fun finding something special to take home while having conversation and sharing laughter.

PARADE … The parade went from the fairgrounds and up Main Street, which was packed with spectators of all ages. Many of the floats were themed based, and everyone had a blast making happy holiday memories.
