(May 2nd, 2015) – WAUSEON: The Junior Varsity iteration of the Indians proved to be too much of a force on offense for the Montpelier defense to halt. Despite a solid showing by the Locos, Wauseon took down their guests in five innings of play.

The young Indians claimed victory over Montpelier, 10-0.

The Montpelier bats never built momentum, earning just one hit and never producing a run. Wauseon began the game with a 2 run effort in the bottom of the first. They followed up with a 4 run showing in the third, and 3 more runs in the bottom of the third. In the fourth, the Wauseon boys were able to tack on 1 more run to reach 10 scores and put the pressure on Montpelier to bring in runs or face an early end to the contest. The Locomotives were unable to answer, resulting in the game being called.

Marcel Barajas earned the win from the mound for Wauseon. Pitching for all five innings, he struck out 8 Montpelier batters, walking only 1. Giving up no runs, Barajas threw a one-hitter in the victory.

Kolden Uribes took the loss for Montpelier. Having a particularly rough outing, the freshman lasted just two-thirds of an inning. In that span, he gave up 2 runs, and moved to second base with the bases loaded. His reliever, Remington Beck, worked his way out of the jam.

Brooks Gype played a sizable role in the Wauseon win, using his bat to make his largest contribution. Hitting for a pair of singles, he was able to bring in 2 RBIs. Carter Stump also gave his team an RBI. He earned 2 singles and a double.

The lone hit for the Locos originated from Kyrin Schuman, who went 1 for 2 on the day. His hit was a double.
