(May 7th, 2015) – STRYKER: Two Buckeye Border Conference titans clashed at the league’s meet in Stryker, Edon and Pettisville battled each other, as well as Hilltop, Stryker, North Central, and Fayette in a quest to claim a conference championship. The Lady Blackbirds clipped the Bomber girls 142-140 in a closely contested meet. Hilltop took third place with 65 points, with host school Stryker coming close to that mark with 61 points. North Central totaled 32 points, while Fayette had a rough afternoon, acquiring just 5 points.

Morgan Leppelmeier earned first place in the 800 meter run for Pettisville, finishing the race in 2:43.7. Edon girl Wendy Braun came in second place at 2:47. Another Lady Blackbird, Sarah Foor, crossed the finish line at 2:52. Hilltop’s Zoi Bauer earned fifth place with a time of 3:07.

Braun would claim victory in the one mile run, turning in a time of 5:55.2 to do so. Pettisville’s Kelly Miller took second place, thanks to her time of 6:19.9. Abby Grice brought home third place to the Lady Panthers, running a time of 6:27.8. Kate Stuber, of Pettisville, and Alisha Bauer, of Hilltop, assumed fourth and fifth places with times of 6:32.8 and 7:27.3, respectively.

In the 100 meter hurdles, Riley Bloir gave the Lady Bombers a first place showing by running a 17.5. Hilltop hurdler Katrina Gonzalez was second to finish, doing so in 18.3. Edon’s Tessa Steinke laid claim to third place with a 19.8 effort.

Lady Cadet Morgan Sieger won the discus with a throw of 70’7”. A pair of Bombers in Arianna Howard and Tammie Julian took down second and third place with tosses of 69’3” for the former and 66’6” for the latter. Kendra Ellis, of Fayette, came in fifth place at 63’2”.

Standing out for North Central was Kailey Siebeneck. The Lady Eagle leader turned in three second place finishes in the meet, giving North Central a majority of their points. She finished second in the long jump by covering a distance of 13’6”, the 200 meter dash at 29.3, and the 400 meter dash at 1:09.7.

Overall, Edon and Pettisville dominated this meet, as, between the two schools, at least two of the top three places were claimed by at least one of them in nearly every event. Hilltop and Stryker performed admirably in the sprinting events, with the later also showing a penchant for distance running. North Central, aside from Siebeneck, earned most of their points from the back end of the placing system, and all 5 of Fayette’s points came at the arm of Ellis, who also placed in the shot put.
