(May 7th, 2015) – EDON: With the game tied going into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lady Bombers needed boost from their bats to end their match-up with Pettisville in regulation. They got just that, tripling their score to lay claim to a win on their home field against the Lady Blackbirds.

Edon topped Pettisville 3-1.

The Bombers jumped out in front early on, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. It would take an inning for Pettisville to respond, but they tied the game in the top of the third. For the duration of the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, no runs were put up by either side, setting up a crucial seventh and final inning.

Pettisville couldn’t break the tie in the top of the inning. Edon took advantage of this, driving in 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh. This gave them the 2 run victory over their guests from Fulton County.

Alex Kiess was a vital part of the Bomber offense. The senior drove in 2 RBIs while going 3 for 4 from the batter’s box. She hit for 2 singles and a double. Edon Sophomore Eliza Zulch went 1 for 3 at the plate, hitting an RBI single.

Stephanie Hubby capitalized on 1 of her 3 plate appearances for Pettisville. A junior, Hubby hit an RBI double. Her teammate, Amber Klopfenstein, went 2 for 3 on the evening, hitting for a pair of singles.

Kaitlin Chrisman picked up the win on the mound for Edon, pitching for all seven innings. She gave up just 1 earned run off of 8 hits. The senior earned 6 strikeouts, walking no one.

Freshman pitcher Kyra Behnfeldt assumed the loss for the Lady Blackbirds, lasting the entire 6.1 innings on the mound. She allowed 3 earned runs from 8 hits, striking out 5 batters while walking 2 more.
