(May 12th, 2015) – EDGERTON: Facing off against one’s rival is an intense happening. Doing so in the post-season places said intensity into another stratosphere.

The Lady Bombers made the short trip down State Route 49 to take on the hosting Bulldogs of Edgerton in a grudge match with more than just pride on the line, as the two teams met in the opening round of Sectional play.

Edon was unable to overcome the home field advantage of the Lady Bulldogs, as the Bombers lost the contest in five innings, 13-3.

It didn’t take long for each side to find it’s offense. By the beginning of the third inning, the Bomber girls found themselves behind 6-3, with pitcher Kaitlin Chrisman recovering swiftly after giving up a home run. The Bulldogs put another one over the fence in that frame, however, with a 3 run home run increasing their advantage to 9 runs.

The Edon bats stalled in the final two innings, as they were unable to produce another hit. Edgerton, despite solid defensive play from the Lady Bombers, gradually added to their lead, expanding it to 9 runs by the bottom of the fifth.

A single by a Bulldog batter sent a base runner toward home plate, with Chrisman covering in desperation to keep the game going. The play was close, but the Edgerton girl had narrowly avoided the tag from the Edon pitcher, despite the incredible effort it took just to make the play a close one.

Down 10 runs in the fifth inning, the game was called, and Edon took the loss against a very talented Lady Bulldog squad.
