(May 30th, 2015) – DAYTON: It was a good showing for the Lady Indians at the Regional Track Meet.

The Wauseon 4X800 meter relay team earned its way to the State Meet. Comprised of Aleea Volkman, Aneesa Volkman, Avery Giguere, and Taylor Vernot, the squad finished in fourth place, running a 9:49.5. Vernot also punched her ticket to Columbus as an individual runner as well, finishing third in both the one and two mile runs with times of 5:12.24 and 11:15.11 respectively. Giguere, a freshman, came in sixth place in the 1600 meter race, running a 5:30.47. Aleea Volkman also came up just short of qualifying for State, as she finished the 3200 meter event in 11:46.75, good for eighth place.

Joining the quartet at State will be teammate Seneca Wyse. Her time of 59.09 in the 400 meter dash was good enough to earn her fourth place and a metaphorical ticket to Columbus. The junior also competed in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes, as well as the long jump, in the Regional Meet, earning sixth, seventh, and tenth places in the respective events with showings of 12.87, 26.67, and 16’01”.

Just missing State qualification were discus throwers Sally Frank and Miriam Triana. Frank, a senior, finished the Regional competition in fifth place with a throw of 111’04”. A junior, Triana claimed seventh place with a toss of 106’09”.
