NEW SUPERINTENDENT … Superintendent Tim Meister shared the productivity of his first six weeks serving the district. He detailed how lucky he is to be working under such a supportive staff.

The Edgerton Board of Education met on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 6 p.m. Present were members Lyn Bowsher, Robert Siebenaler, Amanda Giesige, Bill Swank, and Nick Hug alongside CFO / Treasurer William Blakely, Principal Brett Grieser, Principal Ben Wilhelm, and Superintendent Tim Meister.
After the agenda for the night was approved, the minutes from the last meeting were approved as presented.
The details of a thank you letter sent by a local veteran were discussed, with the heartfelt response to the district’s effort to educate students on veterans.
CFO / Treasurer Williams Blakely gave his report, sharing the financial details of the school with discussion held on how credit card payments could be factored into the ticket sale process.
The financial reports, bills, and January appropriations and investments were reviewed and approved as presented, as were the annual tax amounts and rates for their certification, and the ESC mid-year adjustment. A majority of the price increases are associated with the rising cost of aides.
The treasurer’s report was approved before Superintendent Meister’s administrative recommendations were approved as presented, including the 2024-2025 school calendar, the 2024-2025 OHSAA membership for 7th through 12th grades.
An individual student’s track competition agreement was approved, and the board was informed that they would have to sign again for the demolition of the property at 518 North Michigan Avenue.
Personnel recommendations were approved as presented, including the substitute teacher list, new aides, and potential chaperones pending clear background checks.
After six weeks, new Superintendent Tim Meister shared his thanks for the support as he navigates the new position.
The elementary school has been busy, continuing Bulldog Best once a month. DARE graduation for 5th grade has finished, and the kids loved the visit from K9 Ranger to commemorate the event.
The 100th day of school is being prepared for celebration in the elementary school, with a glow stick party being planned.
Valentine’s Day cards were made by the students for the nursing home residents, and Principal Grieser is proud of his team for taking the initiative to start that.
Bulldogs with Ties is going well, with the boys learning manners. The petting zoo is coming up, as is the book fair and preparation for kindergarten screening.
Principal Wilhelm shared that the high school students are in the home stretch of winter sports season with some tournaments coming up, and this year saw Edgerton hosting the all-county choir and band event.
Williams County Sheriff Tom Kochert came in and presented, and Next Level Prep came in to work on ACT preparation with the junior class.
Superintendent Tim Meister was thanked for his hard work done so far, and then entered into the first of their executive sessions at 6:27 p.m. to discuss a bid for renovating the press box above the football field.
They returned at 7:07 p.m. to reject the bid offered by Siebenaler Construction due to elevator installation costs before entering executive session again at 7:08 p.m.
