EDON (May 6, 2024) – A plethora of Stryker errors led to all the Edon runs being unearned as the Bombers won 4-1 to advance to the Division IV sectional finals.

The Panthers got on the board first as Laura Leupp started the game with a double to left field before stealing third and then scoring on a passed ball to give Stryker a 1-0 lead.

Edon threatened in the bottom of the first as they loaded the bases with two outs, but Stryker pitcher Taylore Rethmel recorded a strikeout to end the frame.

The third inning though saw the Bombers cash in on opportunities with the first three hitters reaching base thanks to Stryker errors and the last one allowing Alexis Breier to score to square the game at 1-1.

With Natalie Wofford at second and Addison Warner at first, Wofford would steal third and then score on a passed ball to put Edon ahead 2-1.

Allyson Derck then reached on an infield single to load the bags and an Amanda Schwartz ground ball resulted in Stryker’s fourth error of the inning, scoring Warner to push the lead to 3-1.

Edon tacked on a run in the sixth inning as Ana Owens drew a one out walk with Stormlin Osborn replacing her as a courtesy runner.

After the walk, Makayla Anspaugh lifted a fly ball to center field that was dropped, and Owens scored all the way from first for a 4-1 lead.

Addalee Fulk doubled in Stryker’s final at bat with one out, but Anspaugh would get a groundout and strikeout for the win.

Anspaugh surrendered just three hits on the night by Stryker with seven strikeouts.
