August Adult Programs At Swanton Public Library

Swanton—Swanton Public Library has a variety of programming going on for the adults this July. Programs are a variety of paid and free, and some require registration.

The Chess-Nuts (Adults)—Every Wednesday @ 5:00pm

Historical Society Meetings (Adults)—Every Friday @ 10:00am

Gardening – Dig In (Adults)—Every Tuesday @ 10:00am (Weather permitting) Come help us weed, and water our community garden. Please bring your own tools and your green thumb.


Summer Reading Program (Adults) — Our Summer Reading Club has come to an end. Thank you to everyone who participated. A big shoutout to our generous sponsors: Anything Grows, Club Salon, Crust Pizzeria, DeEtte’s Dream Diner, Foertmeyer & Sons, Fulton County Fair Board, the Llama and Alpaca Store, Loma Linda’s, Mail Pouch Saloon, McNeill Chevrolet, Oak Park Garden Center, Old El Camino Real, Oncore Brewing, Sadowski’s Produce, Studio 101, Tano’s Pizza and Whitehouse Inn.

Chair Yoga (Adults)—Mondays, August 5, 12, 19, and 26 @ 4:30pm

Physical therapist Dawn Seigneur will lead a class in chair yoga. Classes are


$5.00 per person. Registration is requested but not required.

BYOB Lunch Book Club – Bring your own book (Adults) —Tuesday, August 6 @ 12pm. Join us on the first Tuesday of every month for a fun, lively book discussion.

Dungeons & Dragons (All ages) —Tuesdays, August 6 and 20 at 5:00 pm. Please bring a 5th edition 3rd level character sheet if possible; pre-generated characters will also be available. New players, please register online.


Fiber Art Fiends (General audience)—Wednesdays, August 7 and 21 @ 6:00pm. Join our local fiber artists to socialize and work on your knitting, crochet, weaving, and more!

Gretchen’s Book Club (Adults)—Thursday, August 8 @ 5:30pm. Join Marty and the book club to discuss the novel Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus and pick up The Watchers by Dean Koontz.

Writers’ Group (Adults)—Thursdays, August 8 and 22 @ 6:00pm.

Friends of the Library Used Books/Media Sale —August 9 to September 3. Join us on Friday, August 9 for the first of this summer’s extended used books/media sale! The sale will open during regular library hours from August 9 through September 3. All types of reading and media available. Make a donation for your selections. NOW ACCEPTING DONATIONS!

Accepted: clean, readable fiction and nonfiction, coffee table books, DVDs, and CDs in playable condition. Not accepted: damaged items, computer books, encyclopedias, condensed books, digital/burned copies, magazines or textbooks.

All noncash donations are tax-deductible. Proceeds benefit library programs. Please bring you donations to the library during open hours by Monday, August 5.


Cardmaking: At the Fair! (Adults)—Thursday, August 15 @ 5:30pm. Have fun experimenting with creative background techniques this class. Class fee is $7/person and registration will close on August 13!

Senior Assistance with Val Edwards (Adults) — Thursday, August 15 between 10 to noon. Val Edwards from the Fulton County Senior Center returns to the library to help walk you through topics such as Medicare, insurance, senior assistance, and more! Call Val at 419-337-9299 to schedule and appointment. This free service is by appointment only.

Seam Rippers Sewing Club (General audience). Check our calendar to what day the Seam Rippers will meet next. Bring yourself and your current sewing project. Packed lunches welcome!

Board of Trustees Meeting—Monday, August 19 @ 7:00 pm. The public is welcome to attend.

Color Me Calm (Adults) — Tuesday, August 20 @ 1:30pm. Join us for an hour of fun as we color our stress away. We will provide the coloring sheets and supplies, but feel free to bring your own. Light refreshments provided.
