FULTON COUNTY SENIOR CENTER … Dorothy Bock (left), the site manager of the Archbold and Fayette senior citizen sites, presented a program on the Fulton County Senior Center and the services that if offers Fulton County seniors who are 60 or better at the August 9 Archbold Rotary Club meeting. The program, arranged by Bill Rufenacht, was introduced by Rotary president Jennie Gilroy (right).

Meals are a big part of the Fulton County Senior Center’s weekday program, according to Dorothy Bock, the site manager of the Center’s Archbold and Fayette satellite programs, however, the 500 to 600 lunch meals that the Wauseon Center prepares and provides to Fulton County seniors who are 60 or older are just a small part of the overall programming.

Bock presented her overview of the Senior Center’s program recently for the Archbold Rotary Club. While the Center in Wauseon at 695 S. Shoop Ave. is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the four satellite centers in Archbold, Delta, Fayette and Swanton are open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on several weekdays.

Archbold is open Tuesdays and Fridays at the Scout Cabin in Ruihley Park. While Fayette is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; Swanton on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; and Delta on Tuesday and Thursday.

In addition to the lunches served at all of the sites, homebound seniors can receive delivered meals. A $3 donation is requested for the meals that are served both at the Centers and delivered.

Bock explained that besides the meals, the Centers offer a variety of activities before and after the noon meals as well as entertainment and educational programs.

The Wauseon site has an information/referral specialist who can assist seniors with a variety of questions, including Social Security, Medicare, insurance bills, completing applications, and more.

The Fulton County Senior Center can also provide transportation to medical appointments that are scheduled several days ahead of time.

Services provided by the Center as well as its operating budget are funded by donations, grants and countywide property taxes. Bock noted that a 1.7 mill, five-year replacement levy to support senior services in the county will be on this fall’s November ballot.

For more information about the Fulton County Senior Center and its services, call the Wauseon center at 419-337-9299.
