Ramon D. McQuillin, age 95, of Delta, peacefully passed away Sunday morning, August 11, 2024, at Bryan Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Bryan, Ohio.
Ramon was born in Delta on February 19, 1929 to Clarence and Dessie Mae (Smallman) McQuillin.
He graduated from Delta High School in 1947 and entered the U.S Coast Guard in 1950 during the Korean War; where he served in the Pacific Ocean aboard the destroyer escort, Vance.
He was honorably discharged in 1953 receiving the “Coast Guard Good Conduct Award” and the “National Defense Service Medal”. In 1964 he married Phyllis Beaverson and were married for 17 years.
Ramon was the owner and operator of JT&T Automotive in Delta for many years. He was the last surviving member of the two-time national champion Delta Staccatos of the Delta American Legion drill team. Ramon was a member of the Delta American Legion, where he often volunteered with their Sunday breakfast.
He is survived by his children, Joe Allen McQuillin, Troy Richie McQuillin and Tracy Lynn (Gary) Grime; brothers, Mark (Kathy) McQuillin and Don McQuillin; sisters, Marcia (Al) Miller; Clarice McQuillin and Alice Mae (Bill) Abbott; grandchildren, Jason (Ariel) McQuillin, Steven Mathers, Amber (Eric) Rychener and Christeen McQuillin and great grandchildren, Ryleigh Dennison, Graeson McQuillin, Xavier and Collin Mathers, Colton, Shelby and Bristol Rychener.
Ramon was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Clarence Roger McQuillin, who was killed in action during WWII in 1945 and Dale McQuillin who passed away in 2021 and sister-in-law, Jane McQuillin in 2024.
Friends and family will be received from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St Hwy 109, Delta, Ohio 43515; where a funeral service honoring Ramon will begin at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday also at the funeral home. Pastor Maryann Reimund will be officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Fulton County Honor Guard.
