VARSITY FOOTBALL: Edgerton Ends Emotional Week With Dominant Win Over Hilltop, 69-14

Edgerton 69, Hilltop 14

EDGERTON – The Bulldogs rolled up 439 yards of offense and forced eight Hilltop turnovers as they trounced Hilltop 69-14 in their first game since the tragic death of teammate Levi Hess in a car accident.

Edgerton raced to a 35-0 lead after one quarter with Joel Walkup rushing for two scores, Scottie Krontz had a touchdown receiving and rushing, and quarterback Maddox Baker found the end zone on a 12-yard run.

Walkup totaled 143 yards on 25 attempts and had an 80-yard kickoff return for a TD, Krontz hauled in three receptions for 77 yards, and Baker threw for 191 yards and three touchdowns.

Hilltop’s scores came in the second quarter on an 18-yard pass by Cameron Shimp to Cameron Schlosser and a two-yard touchdown scamper by Scott Bowers just before halftime.

Shimp went 9/33 passing for 128 yards but was intercepted seven times while Bowers led the Hilltop rushing attack with 154 yards on 21 carries. Schlosser had three catches for 59 yards and Brock Kesler caught three passes for 62 yards.
