Bryan Man Killed Fleeing Police

OHIO HIGHWAY STATE PATROL (PRESS RELEASE): Cecil, Ohio – The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single vehicle, fatal traffic crash that occurred on South Main Street near the intersection of Plum Street in the Village of Cecil.

At approximately 2:59 a.m., a 2001 GMC Yukon driven by Michael Dean Geiger, age 58, of Bryan Ohio was traveling northbound on S. Main Street.

Mr. Geiger was actively fleeing from Paulding County Sheriff’s Office deputies when he traveled off the left side of the roadway.


Mr. Geiger overcorrected which caused his vehicle to overturn.

Mr. Geiger was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from his vehicle.

Mr. Geiger sustained fatal injuries as a result of the traffic crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Paulding County Coroner’s Office.

The Van Wert Post was assisted on scene by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, Crane Township/Cecil Fire Department, Paulding County Coroner’s Office, and Hague’s Towing & Repair.


The traffic crash remains under investigation.
