Stryker Board Of Education Hears Of Reduced State Testing For The Upcoming Year

The Stryker Local Board of Education convened in regular session on the evening of August 17.

Treasurer Richelle Oberlin reported a general fund cash balance of $2,650,889.93, with total revenues of $450,172.65, and total expenses of $396,925.71.

The Board approved a donation of a golf bag & assorted clubs for golf team valued at $300.00 from Nancy Colella, the Cross Country Purpose & Budget statement for 2015-16 school year, and the Amended Certificate of Estimated Resources in the amount of $1,500.00 for the District Managed Activity account.
Key dates listed in the report of Principal David Schultz included:

August 18th – Students First Day of School
September 3rd – School pictures provided by Prospect Acres
September 7th – No School Labor Day
September 11th – School wide moment of silence at 9:11 am.
September 14th – No School Fair Day
September 15th – Teacher In-Service Day. No school for students.
September 16th – 1st 9 weeks midterm reports
September 25th – Annual Band Tailgate 4:30 – 7:00

Mr. Schultz announced a reduced number of State-mandated tests from the exorbitant amount of last year. First was the elimination of PARCC and the Value Added component. PBA was eliminated and combined into EOC test. The AIR (American Institute for Research) tests replace PARCC, with testing windows set up for April & May.

The Board approved the following Supplemental Contracts for the 2015-2016 school year:

Kailey Creamer – Varsity Track
Hannah Weideman – Jr. High/Fresh Cheer Advisor
Beth Morr and Lindsi Rufenacht – Mentors

The Board approved a one year contract for Kaye Wonders, Transportation Driver. The Board approved Morgan Uribes and Denise Nowak as Educational Tutors for 2015-16 at the rate of $100.00 per day.

The Board approved the 2015-2016 Agreement with the Wood County Juvenile Detention, Training and Rehabilitation Center, at $64.00 per student, per week day for assigned JDC students, and $64.00 per student, per week day for assigned JRC students, as presented. The Board also approved the NBEC Fiscal Services Coordinator Contract.
