The Williams County Senior Centers have a variety of events planned for the months of September and October. They welcomed Maggie Fisher as the new Executive Director of the Williams County Department of Aging. She has been with the Department of Aging for 9 years and is looking forward to this new role.

The Williams County Department of Aging consists of seven Senior Center sites in the county. The Bryan, Montpelier, and West Unity sites are open Mondays-Fridays while the Stryker, Edon, Edgerton, and Pioneer sites are open Mondays-Thursdays. Each site offers meals, activities such as bingo, crafts, Euchre tournaments, community speakers, and exercise as well as opportunities for special events and outings and great fellowship with other seniors. Each site has its own calendar of daily programming.

The Williams County Fair Senior Day is Thursday, September 17, 2015 with a brunch at 10:00 a.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial Building. Call the various centers for transportation information.

The September evening meal, hosted by the Edgerton Center, will be held on Tuesday, September 29 at Edgerton Church of Christ. Serving will be from 4:30-5:30 with bingo following. The meal consists of Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, Jello cake, assorted juice, and a dinner roll.

Outings from the Bryan center include: Friday, September 11 leaving at 10:30 from the Bryan site to go to Spangler’s Candy Company for a tour. Cost is $4.00. Also, on Tuesday, September 29, an outing will be leaving at 9:00 from the Bryan site to go to the Toledo Zoo Senior Day. Admission to the zoo is free for seniors.

The centers will be closed for the following holidays: Monday, September 7 for Labor Day and Monday, October 12th for Columbus Day.

For more information about the programs and services available to Williams County seniors, call Maggie Fisher, Executive Director at 419-633-4317. Each site has its own individual calendar of events. Flu shots dates will also be provided. Also, please plan to attend the Rainbow of Wellness on Thursday, October 15 at the Williams County Fairgrounds.
