MILLCREEK-WEST UNITY BOARD OF EDUCATION: Board Holds Organizational Meeting & Re-Elects Leadership

MILLCREEK-WEST UNITY … The Millcreek-West Unity Board of Education held its first meeting of the new year on Monday, January 6th.


The Millcreek-West Unity Board of Education held its organizational meeting on Monday, January 6th, at 6:00 p.m.

During this meeting, the board re-elected its current leadership for another year. Heather Jones was re-elected as president, while Brian Wieland serves as vice president.

The board established a Board of Education Service Fund with an amount of $3,000. They also approved the meeting dates for 2025 and set the compensation for board members at $100 per meeting.

Additionally, various committee roles were assigned, with Dawn Layman serving as the Legislative Liaison and both principals acting as Superintendent Pro-Tem.


The organizational meeting concluded at 6:03 p.m., followed by the regular board meeting that started at 6:04 p.m. During the regular meeting, Superintendent Steven Riley provided updates, including reports on bullying incidents from the first semester.

Mr. Riley also shared the minutes from the quarterly meeting of the Northwest Ohio Education Service Center Business Advisory Council.

The board approved the Records Retention Schedule for 2025, the membership and payment of dues for 2025, along with new policies, as well as revisions and replacements. The meeting adjourned at 6:11 p.m.
