The Pike-Delta-York Local School District Board of Education approved a variety of personnel-related items during a special meeting Tuesday at their main office.

Superintendent Jon Burke reported a decision has been made to postpone for at least one year the hiring of a position connected with the Career Tech Education Grant the school obtained.

He said the delay was to determine what the funding will look like and whether the classes will need to be covered internally.

At Delta Middle School, the CTE position will be covered by splitting a gifted position into a half-time career tech position, with the remainder of the time also filled internally.

Rather than continuing psychological services through the Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center, the district is hiring its own school psychologist, with the board approving a two-year contract with Betsy Fausnaugh to serve in the role. According to Burke, the change will save the district nearly $75,000 annually.

The board approved the resignations of Intervention Specialist Kristin Carrisalez – effective at the end of the current school year, and Maintenance Supervisor Logan Feffer – effective April 18.

Burke said the maintenance position was already posted, with 55 applications received and eight individuals already set for interviews, and that he hopes to have a replacement hired by the end of next week.

The board approved renewals of administrative contracts for Accounts Payable/Receivable Specialist Audra Tolson, Assistant Treasurer/Payroll Specialist Terrie Freeman, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent and EMIS Coordinator Julie Barnes, and Administrative Assistant/IT Specialist Kaeden Peper.

The board approved a one-year contract for teacher Sydnie Horning. No new positions were filled.

The next regular meeting of the Pike-Delta-York Local School District Board of Education will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21 in the Delta High School auditorium.
