BRYAN (August 1, 2025) – It was a great start for the Wauseon Lady Indians golf team winning the Lady Loco Invitational held Friday at Suburban Golf Course.

The Indians who finished with a 385 score, had a pair of golfers, Ruth Shelt who carded an 83 and Hayden Konieczka who recorded an 87 to lead a solid team effort for head coach Mike Marshall.

“We have three returning letterwinners which is really going to be very helpful for us,” said Marshall.

“Coming off a successful season last year, I was glad to see that they’re continuing on with their success.”

The veteran coach was impressed with the performance of Shelt and Konieczka. “Ruth (Shelt) and Hayden (Konieczka) both put in a lot of time this summer,” said Marshall.

“They went to summer tournaments and really worked on their games. Some girls take a while to get into form and they’re right in their form right now.”

After winning its first invite of the season, Marshall is really excited about the season and hopefully improve down the road.

Also contributing to the championship effort for the Indians were Alexis Perez (97), Brighton Binkley (118), Emalyne Neifer (142) and Sophia Medina (147).
