EDON — The Edon Village Council convened on August 19, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in a well-attended meeting.

Present were council members David Loughborough, Jeff Pease, Austin Thiel, Lee Lawrence, Dan Ankney, and Brian Shaffer, joined by Mayor Duane Thiel, Village Administrator Chad Ordway, Heidi Bidwell, Police Chief Tom Szymczak, Jenn Stantz from Wedco, and several community members.

The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a motion to approve the minutes, moved by Lawrence and seconded by Pease. The financial report and bills were approved with a motion by Shaffer, seconded by Pease. Bidwell announced that village offices would be closed on September 1 for Labor Day.

Guests Chad Livensparger and Josh Chapin presented proposals for Walz Park improvements. They highlighted the parking shortage during All-Star events and sought council input on solutions.

Additionally, they proposed upgrading the bleachers with sand and concrete at their own expense. The council approved the motion and encouraged collaboration with the park board, which will schedule a meeting to address the parking issue further.

Returning to regular business, Police Chief Szymczak reported a successful Edon Days and provided updates on training and custom gear for School Resource Officer Monica Goebel at Edon Schools.

Village Administrator Ordway announced that water valve maintenance is scheduled for September, with notices to be sent to affected residents.

The council conducted the second reading of Resolution 03-25, designating no-parking zones within the village. Thiel moved to approve, seconded by Ankney.

The meeting adjourned at 7:41 p.m. to enter an executive session to discuss pending litigation regarding land acquisition. The next Edon Village Council meeting is set for September 15, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
