The Fayette Village Council met Monday, August 25, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Village Hall. The meeting opened with a prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. In attendance: Mayor David Borer, Greg Gable, Katie Colegrove, Suzette Boesger, and Brittany Theis.

The agenda was approved with no corrections, along with the special minutes of the July 16, July 22, and August 13 meetings.

The committee of the whole minutes from the August 13, 2025, meeting were additionally approved, with discussion noted on finance, department of public works, safety, and government affairs.

Mayor Borer kicked off the meeting by presenting his monthly report. It included a wide variety of events coming to Fayette in the following months, including a Fall Festival scheduled for September 27, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Borer also reported that the weekly farmer’s market will continue in the Opera House parking lot until September 17, 2025.

The Henry Metropolitan Housing Authority (MHA) sent a letter to the council to inform them about their upcoming rental assistance program.

Titled the “MHA Housing Choice Voucher Program,” it includes rental assistance to help low-income residents of Fulton, Defiance, Henry, Wood, Paulding, and Putnam counties.

With a goal to provide safe, decent, and sanitary housing to families in need, the waiting list is scheduled to open September 16, 2025, at 8:00 a.m.

Applicants can apply online through the MHA website or request a paper application via phone call. The final deadline for this program is September 19, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Further information can be requested through the Fayette Village Office.

In administrative reports, phase one of the sewer replacement project in Fayette was successfully completed. Originally starting in October 2023, the crew has completed substantial renovations to the sewer lines and distribution system.

Phase two, aimed at industrial and neighborhood improvements southeast of the Family Life Center, is set to begin early 2026.

Fayette Schools has announced a new “Fayette Hall of Fame” program to be introduced in the coming months.

Katie Colegrove was selected by the council to serve on the board of the hall of fame. They will choose outstanding community members throughout the village to be recognized and celebrated by the school.

The VFO report was given by Jessica Swander, Fiscal Officer for the Fayette Village Council. Swander updated on her drafting of a new cybersecurity policy, along with the 2026 projected budget.

The SRO agreement was accepted and is awaiting final council approval. Swander noted a final bill total of $243,477 for the month.

A second reading of Ordinance 2025-16 was held, which includes repealing the existing water and sewer rates and enacting a new rate. There was no discussion held.

Resolution 2015-18 was suspended and approved to establish engine break restrictions for the village.

The council moved forward to approve the SRO contract presented by Swander. An extension agreement for phase one of the water contract was passed, due to expected bills to be received past the original due date. This deadline is now slated for December 31, 2025.

Caden Leininger was promoted from part-time to full-time employee starting September 1, 2025. Halloween Trick-or-Treating was scheduled for October 31, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

An executive session to discuss employment was held at 6:23 p.m. The council returned with no action at 7:17 p.m. The August 25, 2025, meeting was adjourned at 7:18 p.m. with no further discussion.
