Area Teams Compete At Tiffin Carnival

TIFFIN (September 6, 2025) – A number of area cross country squads competed in the Tiffin Carnival on Saturday at Hedges-Boyer Park.

Regarded as one of the largest cross country meets in the nation, the meet itself featured a numerous state ranked teams in all four divisions.

Headlining the area squads was Bryan as the Golden Bears currently ranked sixth in the latest Ohio High School Cross Country state poll led all area teams with a fourth place finish in the Division II varsity boys’ race.


Bryan tallied 219 points in the meet. Tinora was eighth (291), Archbold 16th (482), Pettisville was 22nd (616), Fayette was 23rd (639) and Wauseon was 33rd (869).

The Golden Bears had four of their top five runners finishing among the top 50 individuals led by Colton Sheline who was 17th (16:24.9), Josiah Cummins was 38th (16:51.5), Malaki Neilson was 45th (16:55.5) and Elijah Cummins was 50th (17:04.7).

Also finishing in the top 50 in the Division II varsity boys’ race was Jude Hudson of Archbold was 16th (16:23.9) and Ethan Lee of Fayette was 21st (16:37.1).


In the Division III varsity boys’ race, Delta’s Tyler Barnes was the area’s top finisher placing 55th overall in 18:48.9. Delta was 15th as a team with 412 points, Edgerton 17th (442) and Evergreen 19th (562).

In the Division II girls’ varsity race, Ella Rhoades of Wauseon led area runners with a fifth place time of 18:25.7.

Also finishing in the top 50 individuals were Nicolette Stickney of Bryan who placed 11th (19:08.4); Hadley Hudson of Archbold was 12th (19:10), and Addison Schang of Fayette was 38th (20:19.3). In the team standings, Archbold was 11th (344), Bryan 19th (506) and Wauseon 25th (596).

In the Division III varsity girls’ race, Sydnie Whitinger of Delta was 22nd (21:20) and Carleigh Cone of Delta was 40th (22:14) among the top 50 individual runners.


Delta led area teams with a 12th place finish in the Division III varsity girls’ standings followed by Edgerton (16th, 386) and Evergreen (17th, 493).

In the Division II-III boys open race, North Central’s Carter Eckley led area runners with a seventh place time of 17:44.5. Other top results were Nye Bradbee of Bryan (13th, 18:08); Levi Keesbury of Bryan (15th, 18:13); Carson Madden of Swanton (21st, 18:21.7) and Spencer Woodward of Bryan (22nd, 18:28.4).

In the Division II-III girls open race, Karen Maldonado of Pettisville was 36th (22:35) and Grace Davis of Pettisville was 45th (22:57.6).
