EDGERTON – Wayne Trace had entered its Green Meadows Conference football matchup against unblemished Edgerton winless and on Friday, September 19, the Raiders then enjoyed a happy bus ride back to Haviland handing the Bulldogs’ their first setback of the season with a 35-28 victory on Homecoming Night.

The Raiders (1-4, 1-1 GMC) had trailed 13-7 at halftime before junior running back Carter Baumle responded with three rushing touchdowns highlighting a 28-point third quarter outburst.

Baumle scored on runs of 2, 4 and 53 yards giving the Raiders a 28-13 lead and quarterback Carter Clemens then connected with Lance Whitman on a 32-yard scoring pass in the quarter.

Maddox Baker, who threw for 353 yards on 24 of 35 passes for Edgerton (4-1, 1-1 GMC), connected with Karter Gibson on TD passes covering 72 and 25 yards in the fourth quarter to make it a 35-28 game.

Baker also tallied 83 yards on the ground on 17 carries including a one-yard scoring run.

Gibson, who hauled in 12 passes for 200 yards, had earlier scored on a 28-yard pass from Baker. Kellen Sanchez caught nine passes for 98 yards for the Bulldogs, who outgained Wayne Trace, 471-281, in total offense.

Both teams return to GMC action on Friday as Edgerton visits Ayersville and Wayne Trace hosts Hicksville.
