Downtown Wauseon came to life on Saturday, November 22, as the annual Christmas Parade made its way through the city, signaling the start of the holiday season.

Stepping off at 7:00 p.m., the Honor Guard opened the procession, followed by units from the Wauseon Police Department, Mayor Huner, and the Wauseon Fire Department. The Wauseon Indians Marching Band added to the atmosphere, as did the Wauseon Indians Cheerleaders.

Activity downtown had been growing well before the first lights of the parade appeared. Holiday decorations and streetlights lined Fulton Street, and a chance to shop with local vendors at a Christmas Market.

Families stood shoulder to shoulder along the sidewalks, with children waiting excitedly for candy to be tossed from passing floats.

Christmas music played throughout the area, mixing with the lights and chatter of the crowd to create a warm seasonal atmosphere.

Festivities continued after the parade concluded. The Wauseon Chorale performed at the historic train depot in Depot Park, drawing many parade-goers to stay a bit longer and enjoy the music.

Inside the depot, children had the chance to visit Santa, adding one more highlight to an evening already filled with tradition and holiday cheer.
