WAUSEON (December 12, 2025) – The Wauseon Indians won in convincing fashion at home Friday against the Edgerton Bulldogs with a fourth-period clinic after maintaining a lead throughout the first three in 57-32 non-league win.

Wauseon struck first with a layup from senior Jack Alstaetter and a free throw from senior Collin Mennetti, the latter followed immediately by junior Riley Riegsecker stealing the ball back from Edgerton and put in to bring the score to 5-0.

Riegsecker’s ball-stealing prowess would come to be a theme during the game. The Indians and Bulldogs then went on a back-and-forth tear, trading baskets until the score was 11-6.

Riegsecker scored the rest of the points in the period, draining a three and hitting one of two free throw attempts, putting the score at 15-6 to end the quarter.

Riegsecker kicked off the second quarter with a long trey to open the scoring.

Edgerton then lined up three free throws and a basket before Riegsecker ended their momentum with another three pointer, after which he rebounded a teammate’s missed shot, tried for a basket, missed, rebounded his own shot, then put it in for two.

The Bulldogs managed a basket courtesy of senior Noah Weaver before the Indians took a point on a free throw by senior Bodie Vasvery and two more from a Mennetti basket. Edgerton senior Maddox Baker put in a trey to end the half at a score of 26-16.

Edgerton started the second half with a new vigor, including junior Mason Elden scoring two immediately out of the gate.

Riegsecker put up one point on a free throw, but this time the Bulldogs struck back, with two treys in a row, one by Elden and a long one by Baker.

Riegsecker threw himself back into the gap, scoring a basket then immediately stealing the ball and landing a huge breakaway dunk.

The two teams then traded a basket, and then a three – via Baker for Edgerton and junior Xzavier Molina for Wauseon.

As the final seconds expired, Vasvery gave the Indians the last points of the third quarter with a buzzer-beating layup, bringing the score to 40-29.

In the final quarter, Wauseon would catch fire and Edgerton would find their attempts almost completely ineffective.

Riegsecker had another breakaway steal and although he didn’t dunk, it only took his fingertips to guide the ball home for two.

He continued to show up again and again in near-steals and made or assisted in the next three scores – a nothing-but-net trey and two passes to Molina at the basket for layups.

The Bulldogs then scored their only points of the period with a three from senior Parker Elden. Riegsecker put his final points up with a basket before leaving the game after the next play.

The Indians kept firing on all cylinders until the end of the game, stacking up three more baskets – two from junior Brody Shehorn and one from sophomore Isaac Heller – to give Wauseon the win with a final score of 57-32.
