The Williams County Commissioners met on Thursday, February 26, 2026, to hear a request for additional office space from the Ohio State Extension Office.

Commissioner President Scott Lirot and Vice President Bart Westfall were in attendance along with OSU staff Karie McDonald, Becky McGuire, Megan Warnecke, and Kayla Wyse.

The OSU Extension Office is requesting additional space due to overcrowding in its current office, located at the East Annex.

The office currently has five employees, with two interns expected to arrive in the summer. Since the office regularly hosts events, activities, and group projects, the space is often limited.

The office is also renting an extra storehouse off-site to store additional office supplies and program materials. McDonald said she is considering renting a second storage unit as the office continues to run short on space.

Commissioner Westfall asked to walk through the area and see the dimensions of the office.

While there are no solutions at this time, the commissioners offered the possibility of relocating several offices once the construction of the new North Annex building is complete.

“I don’t foresee right off hand any additional space here unless something would change,” said Westfall.

“Once we get the North building done – that’s always an option,” commented Lirot. “We are going to moving a bunch of stuff in the county.”

The commissioners approved several Maximus IV-D contracts within the county as follows:

-A clerking service contract between the Williams County Clerk of Courts and JFS. The cost is not to exceed $76,758.22 through December 31, 2026.

-A domestic magistrate service contract between the Williams County Common Pleas Court and JFS. The cost is not to exceed $27,294.98 through December 31, 2026.

-A magistrate service contract between the Williams County Juvenile Court and JFS. The cost is not to exceed $72,136.83 through December 31, 2026.

A Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP) payoff/release form was signed for the satisfaction of the mortgage for Shirley Robinette.

Additionally, the Maumee Valley Planning Organization sent a release of mortgage form for Kirk Okuley.

With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:31 a.m. The next Williams County Commissioners’ meeting is scheduled for March 3, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
