Springfield Township Trustees met in a regular session on Wednesday, March 11 at the township office.

In attendance were trustees Eric Creighton, Ed Ruffer, and Steve Planson. Also in attendance were Fiscal Officer Patti Rosebrock and road maintenance supervisor Mike Short.

Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the trustees approved the minutes from the February 25 meeting, and the monthly bills were also paid.

Short updated the trustees regarding the chip and seal road projects scheduled to begin in August. He then presented two bids for the project.

Trustees awarded the bid to Ward Construction of Leipsic at a cost of $86,886.40. The other bid submitted came from Henry Bergman Inc. of Genoa at $94,329.00.

The chip and seal road work will involve County Road E-50, County Road 22.75 from County Road F to County Road F-50, and County Road T-50.

In other action, the trustees discussed the drainage situation in the Hickory Hills Subdivision which is located off State Route 34.

It was decided that the trustees will be meeting with the subdivision residents on how to proceed and review options in improving the drainage situation.

Rosebrock discussed the random selection pool that involves drug and alcohol testing for township employees holding CDL licenses through Parkview Occupational Health Services of Bryan.

Creighton also mentioned that township resident Brady Ruffer has shown an interest in being appointed to the Springfield Township Zoning Commission. The township has two vacancies to be filled.

Also in attendance was Brandon Moskwa, who is a Republican candidate running for the Ohio House District 81 seat currently held by Jim Hoops.

Moskwa spoke briefly to the trustees regarding his platform in running for office. He faces Patti Rockey in the May 5, 2026, primary election.

The meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m. The next meeting is Wednesday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m.
