Cookies, coffee, and wall-to-wall guests filled the new With Love, Betsy salon in downtown Swanton Friday morning as owner Betsy Gardner celebrated the recent opening of her new business.
A Swanton native with 20 years of experience as a licensed cosmetologist, Gardner opened her own salon at 201 S. Main St. at the end of January.
Gardner said opening a salon on Main Street in Swanton was a dream she never knew she had.
“I’m so excited to be a part of the community now after working for 20 years outside the community but being very involved in the community.
“I’m excited to come home and work closely with the community and be close to my kids,” she said.
She said her father has owned the building for about 30 years, and it seemed like a great location, which has proven to be true since she opened.
“And it’s got really big windows, so I can see the whole action of the whole town!” Gardner said.
Gardner said she has been thrilled with the support she has received not only from her friends and family, but from her current clients in Toledo and other surrounding communities.
Friday’s ribbon-cutting was held in conjunction with the Swanton Area Chamber of Commerce.
“Known for both her talent and her heart for the community, Betsy is actively involved in giving back and is a familiar face at local events,” a release from the chamber stated.
“You can often find her cheering on the Swanton Bulldogs and supporting fellow small businesses. Her commitment to Swanton and her craft makes With Love, Betsy a wonderful addition to downtown.”
Chamber Executive Director Delray Busch was in attendance for the celebration. “It’s always great to see a new business owner, and especially one as dedicated to Swanton as Betsy.
“There’s generations of her family here, and they love Swanton so much, and I’m excited to see her thrive in her new location,” Busch said.
