The Pettisville School Board approved all minutes and financial as presented. Additionally, the adoption of policy #7250, Commemoration of Distinguished accomplishment was approved. The policy and accompanying guideline will outline procedure for recognizing significant accomplishments by alumni or staff members.

The primary purpose for adoption of this policy is to provide a vehicle to recognize the accomplishments of Jeff Kruse, who was recently named an Adjutant General in the United States Air Force.

The recommendation that a contract with NaviGate be authorized for the purpose of assisting the district in preparation/upgrade of its Emergency Operations Plan also came before the board and gained approval. The cost for the first year is $2500 plus a $750 annual fee that will continue annually after the first year. These fees are considerably lower than the posted rate and are available with NwOESC membership.

Personnel items gaining approval included supplemental contracts for Mr. Duane Beck (Assistant Play Director) and Mrs. Karen Grieser (Play set).

Mr. Michael Lane, Pettisville High School Principal, informed the Board on changes to the ODE testing times in both English and language arts. Both sets of test are now 39-50% shorter than the tests given in 2014-15. Test results from the 2014-15 battery of state testing should be out soon and results will be shared at the next board meeting. Lane additionally extended his gratitude for the efforts of Mr. Beck and Ms. Yoder and the Student Council for their work on the Student Council’s Fall Picnic at the Park, which was a pleasant event for everyone. Gratitude was also extended to Mr. Poulson and the FFA for their job in running and preparing PumpkinFest.

Mr. Jason Waldvogel, Elementary Principal, reported that the Elementary will be continuing the pantry program to help families facing difficult times. Students will be collecting non-perishable food and personal hygiene items to stock the pantry, which all distribute coats and schools supplies, which there are an adequate supply of at this time. Monetary donations can be made payable to Pettisville Schools – Blackbird Pantry.

Superintendent Dr. Stephen Switzer also updated the Board on the State Budget. Switzer noted that some positive numbers have been put forward but that the school is still awaiting on several pieces of information before too much faith can be put into the data.
