The Evergreen Local Board of Education held their meeting on Monday, June 22, 2026. The meeting began at 6 p.m., with the approval of the May 18 regular meeting minutes.

A major item approved by the board was an income tax resolution, along with a resolution determining to proceed with placing the renewal of a 0.25% traditional school district income tax before voters. The tax currently expires on December 31, 2027.

Board members also approved May financial reports, amended resources and appropriation modifications for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. Temporary appropriations for fiscal year 2027 were approved at 75% of fiscal year 2026 actual expenditures.

The board accepted several donations, including a $100 anonymous donation to the Student Assistance Fund, $500 from the Fulton Alumni Association to the EES Principal Fund, $1,500 from Music Boosters to the General Fund for a sound system and $2,500 from Athletic Boosters to the General Fund for student tickets.

Several federal grants were also approved, including $136,374.70 for Title I, $28,582.19 for Title II-A, $10,688.77 for Title IV, $284,725.95 for IDEA-B and $6,923.54 for IDEA ECSE.

Personnel actions included offering Erica Ferguson a one-year limited teaching contract as an EHS business teacher and Sydney Pickles a one-year limited teaching contract. Katie Daniels and Wendy Etts were approved for non-teaching one-year limited contracts as cooks in three-hour positions.

The board also approved several supplemental coaching and advisory contracts for the 2026-2027 school year, along with EHS and EMS paid and volunteer event workers and compensation rates for athletic event positions.

Breakfast and lunch prices were set for the 2026-2027 school year. Student breakfast will be $2.55 at Evergreen Elementary School and $2.75 at Evergreen Middle School and Evergreen High School. Student lunch will be $3.30 at EES and $3.65 at EMS and EHS. Adult breakfast will be $3.35, while adult lunch will be $4.90.

Student handbooks, the district gifted handbook, IMTSS handbook, curriculum guide, EHS course fees and other student fees were also approved.

Grades nine through 12 will be billed for individual courses, with a maximum course fee charge of $150 per academic year, not including additional activity, class, administrative or co-curricular fees.

Athletic ticket prices were approved under NWOAL guidelines. Adult tickets for high school events will be $8, while student tickets will be $5. Junior high adult tickets will be $5, and junior high student tickets will be $2.

District insurance through the Ohio School Plan, administered by Hylant Administrative Services, LLC, was approved at a total premium of $104,368 for July 1, 2026, through July 1, 2027.

The board then approved Evergreen Local Schools’ Ohio Student Wellness and Success Funding and Disadvantaged Pupil Impact Aid Plan for fiscal years 2026 and 2027, as well as participation in educational option programming through the Wood County Educational Service Center.

A cybersecurity program and IT administrative standards were adopted, with the superintendent and designated technology personnel directed to implement and maintain the procedures needed to support the program.

During administrative reports, Superintendent Eric Smola noted that the district is adding a Student Support/i-MTSS Coordinator position for the upcoming school year. He also thanked custodial staff for work preparing buildings for next school year, noting that buildings will be closed from June 29 through July 31 for hallway and common area cleaning and waxing.
