The Friends of the Delta Public Library are beginning to prepare baskets for the upcoming Chinese Auction Fundraiser. They are on display at the library. This will be our 26th annual event. We are asking merchants, businesses, patrons and community members to donate items for a raffle type auction to be held November 19th at the Delta American Legion. The public is invited to attend so bring your friends, family and neighbors!

This year the baskets will again be ready so the public can purchase tickets and select items on Wednesday evening November 18th at the Legion from 5-7 pm. Those who are unable to attend Thursday can still participate without being present. Thursday, November 19th, the Legion doors will open to the public at 9:30 am. Tickets will be available until 12:45 pm as the drawing of the tickets will begin at 1:00 PM. Winners who are not present will be contacted to pick up their winnings.

Donations for the baskets can be homemade baked goods/candy, handicrafts, purchased products, gift certificates or any manner of new or gently used items. Each item or collection of items is put in a decorative basket. Guests purchase tickets (25 cents each) and place a ticket or number of tickets in the receptacle of each item they hope to win in the drawing. Last year there were 500 baskets/items available to bid on. There is something for everyone, kids included! The baskets make excellent gifts for the Holidays as well.

Lunch will be available starting at 11:00 am and will feature hot turkey sandwiches as well as all kinds of salads and desserts. You can dine in or get a carry out box. Lunch is a “Freewill Offering”. No one ever goes away hungry. If you would like to donate a salad or dessert, please register at the library. Food items need to be brought in no later than 10:00 am Thursday morning.

The event raised $5600 at last year’s auction/luncheon. The Friends donate proceeds to the Library to support Summer Reading Programs as well other special projects and programs as the need arises.

Don’t miss out on this fantastic community event filled with fun, food, fellowship and fundraising!!! If you would like to volunteer to help set up for the auction or provide raffle items or food, or need more information, please call the Delta Library at 419-822-3110.
