Melanie IMG_0923 (2) webWilliams County Public Library would like to invite everyone to come and meet local author Melanie Boulis who wrote the book Between Heaven and Healing.  She will give a short talk about her book and will also have her book for sale and be signing copies for those who are interested at each of the WCPL locations.  Dates and times for her visits are as follows: on the second floor of the Main Library in Bryan on Tues., Jan. 29th at 7:00 pm; at the Edgerton Branch Library on Tues. Feb. 12 at 7:00 pm; at the Edon Branch Library on Tues. Feb. 19 at 6:00 pm; at the Stryker Branch Library on Tues. Feb. 26 at 6:00 pm; at the West Unity Branch Library on Tues. March 5 at 6:00 pm; and at the Pioneer Branch Library on Tues., March 19 at 6:00 pm.

The following information from the book cover explains the inspiration for Melanie’s book.  “As soon as two doctors asked Melanie Boulis if she would like to sit down, she knew something was wrong. Still, she remained standing. But when the doctors showed Melanie the slides from her twelve-year-old daughter Danielle’s MRI, she immediately lowered herself into a chair, numb from shock and disbelief. In an instant, Melanie’s world changed forever. Danielle had brain cancer.

After Danielle was diagnosed with a large tumor on her brain stem, Melanie reveals how she and her husband, Kevin, began a journey through countless tests, surgeries, and treatments—and where nothing mattered but getting their little girl better. As Danielle bravely faced the darkness of brain cancer, Melanie and Kevin felt helpless, unable to do anything else but pray, read Scriptures, sing, and offer words of comfort. As the news gradually transformed from bad to worse, Melanie shares how she and Kevin gained strength through their faith and learned to trust God’s plan, even after He chose heaven for Danielle.

Between Heaven and Healing shares the inspirational story of a young girl’s journey through terminal cancer and her parents’ eventual realization that faith is not knowing why, but still believing in His goodness and eternal life where all will be made right, where cancer is nonexistent, and where there will be no more tears.”

Melanie hopes that by sharing her experiences through this book that she will be able to help others who have also suffered a loss.  For those who have gone through loss and are questioning God, Melanie would like to help them, give them encouragement, point them to God’s amazing love and strength and give them a window to what someone going through a loss might be feeling.

Melanie Boulis lives in Bryan and is a Library Assistant at the Main Library.  She is married to Kevin Boulis who is the pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Bryan.  Their son Levi Boulis is currently a senior at Bryan High School.  This is Melanie’s first published work, but she would like to do more writing and has begun work on a fiction piece.  Melanie is active at her church leading worship, working with the food pantry ministry, and teaching a class on Wednesday nights.  Melanie also enjoys reading, baking, scrapbooking, playing piano, and singing.  She hopes to learn how to play Danielle’s guitar in the near future.

For those unable to attend any of these book signings, Between Heaven and Healing is also available for purchase online at www.amazon.com and at www.inspiringvoices.com in both paperback and ebook forms
