Upcoming Programs at Stryker Library

Stryker Branch Library has a number of programs available to the public during February and March of 2013.  Fifth and sixth graders are invited to come to the library on the first Friday of each month for the remainder of the school year for fun gaming afternoons.  Gaming will be held from 3:15 pm to 4:30 pm on Friday, February 1 and Friday, March 1.  Students may play Wii games, various board games, and card games.  Refreshments will be served.  This program is funded through the 21st Century Grant.

Story times will continue in February and March with the “Panther Kidz” for children in grades kindergarten through second grade being held on Tuesdays from 3:15 pm to 4:00 pm.  “Read to Me,” where students can read to adults, will be held on Wednesdays from 3:15 pm to 4:00 pm.  “Panther Paws,” which is toddler story time for ages 2 to 5 years, will be held on Thursdays from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.

Jackie Briskey will be providing instruction for beginning crochet and guidance for those who have some experience with basic stitches. This class is for those who are age 13 and up.  Class meets at the Stryker Library from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Feb. 9 and Feb. 23. Would you like to learn how to decorate Valentine cookies? Jessica Tingley will be teaching a class on this topic at the Stryker Branch Library on Monday, February 4th, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  The class is free and open to the public, but registration is required and class size is limited to 24.  Participants under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  Please call the library or stop in to sign up for the class.

Fourth graders from StrykerSchool are invited to come to the Stryker Branch Library on Monday, February 11 from 3:15 pm to 4:00 pm for a Bingo Party.  This fun afternoon will include prizes and refreshments.


Third graders will be invited to come and make “Cupcake Creations” for the Cooking with Kelly class to be held on Monday, March 11 from 3:15 pm to 4:00 pm.

On Monday, March 18 a Willy Wonka/Hershey Chocolate Family Night is planned from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.  There will be a chocolate tasting, crafts, games, films, prizes, and a special visit from our library mascots Larry and Lily Lion.
