Montpelier Area Chamber of Commerce Updates On Main Street Construction & Other News

Road work will commence, tentatively, on Main Street the week of April 20. The road will be closed for about eight weeks, Kurt Roan said.

An interactive dinner theatre “Poison with Picasso,” will be April 22-23 at the Montpelier Moose. There will be an art auction as well. A table for eight costs $200 or $25 per person. The book sale begins April 15.

Dave Tilly reported scholarship interviews began the week of April 11.

The Montpelier Parks and Rec opening ceremony will be 4-6 p.m. June 10 with the Olympics as the theme.

Student reps Michael Blake and CJ Roth reported the Montpelier High School Robotics Team was in Marion for a competition. Jazz and Locomotion just got back from Toronto and track season is underway.

Under new business,
– the chamber is looking into a new web site manager.

– The chamber’s second annual golf outing is May 21. The committee consists of Kevin Motter, Jason Luke, Susan Gearhart and Kandace Potts-Salaz. The outing still needs donations for prizes, but all of the hole sponsors have been secured. Additional teams are still being accepted.

– Thompson Diversity, LLC and Ruan Transportation were welcomed as new members.

The chamber will be helping with a job fair May 16 for all juniors and seniors at the Quality Inn.

The circus is coming to town June 16 with shows at 5 and 7:30 p.m.
