The Archbold Village Council took a step forward on the planned mural downtown.

The council awarded the bid of Burkholder Drywall for the installation of the Dryvit System on the wall at 201 N. Defiance St. The bid came in at $55,000 with a completion date of July 1.

In other actions, the council:
Amended Chapter 95 of the village codified ordinances to require residents’/property owners to clear their sidewalks within 48 hours after a snow or ice storm of any accumulation abutting their land.

Enforcement will be carried out by the Police Department.

Authorized the advertisement of bids for street improvements to Pleasant, Wilson and West Beech streets. The project preliminary estimate is $1 million.

The scope of the project will include new curb and gutter for Pleasant Street from Lafayette to West Beech, for all of Wilson.

The asphalt streets will be 24 feet wide. New concrete driveway approaches will be constructed for all homes and businesses with existing driveways.

New concrete sidewalks will be installed along the west side of Pleasant Street, the south side of Wilson Street and the north side of W. Beech Street.

New 15- and 12-inch storm sewer mains will replace existing cracked 15-inch concrete storm sewer mains. There will be a new 12-inch water main on the west side of Pleasant Street from Wilson to W. Beech and on the north side of the 100 block of Wilson Street.

New 8-inch water mains will be installed on the east side of Pleasant Street south of Wilson and the north side of 200 block of Wilson. A new 6-inch water main will replace the 4-inch cast iron water main in the alley between Pleasant and S. Defiance streets.

Awarded the bid for the grassed waterway Sec. 28 in German Township for $7,272 to Armstrong Excavating.
