THE VILLAGE REPORTER

It was a light agenda for the Williams County Board of Commissioners but voters will see two new questions on the fall ballot.

The board passed resolutions to authorize millage requests for the Ohio State Extension office and the Williams County Public Library to be submitted to the Board of Elections in time for the Nov. 8 general election.

The Extension is asking voters for 0.1 mill in a new levy as well as renew the 0.3 levy in effect. The extra money is needed to keep the office functioning. If approved the new levy will be collected beginning in 2018.

The library is asking 1 mill to help replenish revenues lost when the state cut library funding by 32 percent in 2009. If approved, the new levy will be collected this year. It is expected to raise $683,504.

The board also approved an agreement for technical assistance with the board being the lead entity of the Maumee Valley North CHIP Consortium (Williams County, Maumee Vallety Planning Org., the city of Bryan) contingent on getting an award of $205,300.
