Edgerton School Board Discusses Finances & Large Class Breakdown

Edgerton School finances are tracking well and officials are considering options for what is expected to be a large fourth-grade class next fall.

The school board met for nearly an hour before heading into an executive session over security issues.

Treasurer Bill Blakely spoke on options for some CDs that are coming due and how the school’s finances are holding up with revenue up over last year and tracking up 3.7 percent for the calendar year.


The third grade class, which has 54 students has been broken up into three sections so far, but officials are discussing their options for fourth grade.

The board approved
-Handbooks for all grades for 2016-17.
-Allowing Metropolitan Educational Technology Association to advertise and receive bids on the district’s behalf for the purchase of a 9-person passenger van.
-Approved three overnight trips: Dunes Camp for volleyball July 11-13 in Rolling Prairie, Ind.; NW Ohio for girls’ basketball July 1-3 in Findlay and Eastern Ohio Boys Basketball June 14-17 in Sherrodsville.
-Commended four students for being named to the Four County Career Center National Technical Honor Society: Jarah Davis, Autumn Rowe, Marissa Smith and Kenzie Stein.

Other highlights:
The Elementary School Daddy-daughter dance was attended by 200 people.
The seniors last day is May 25.
Fifty-seven percent of students receive free or reduced lunches.
